If people are satisfied with the quality of the bikes & with the names being brought out and rights to use them on the bikes then so be it. Be it manufactured @ the original company's plant or @ another plant, if it bares the same, then it is one. That is like saying a fender squire is not a fender because it is made in Mexico. 2 loser calls, BD sez YOUR FAULT! cause thats the only reason anyone would be responsible for shipping an error both ways...thts fuked up.

3 BD convinces loser to actually PAY FOR ANOTEHR BIKE rather than just replace thier mess up, loser did it, i hope alla u aint so dumb

4 BD still sent wrong components, sent cheaper components, seversl hundred $$ worth

5 (losers fault) bike didnt work with loser assembly, loser had to go all over town to get his ride done right but mainly cause he was a cheapassskate

6 BD sees forum and sends loser an excuse. thats it, no $$ no discount no apology no nothing, just "duh, we suck, you shoulda known" and they out

7 after riding on a bike that was nightmare to get from BD and finally getting it set up, the guy sees the light and now buys from his local dealers, gets his bike serviced by pros. he still claims BD was a good value but thats a hole he dug, he clearl got ripped off and made the best of it. now if he buys from BD he knows to get fitted first at a shop, and have a pro assemble, the last update from the original poster gives no indication he will buy from BD for his woman.

BD --tried-- to rip him for shipping when they ****ed up, and DID rip him for a few hundred bucks in parts, and only offered up an excuse that didnt fly, dude was clearly embarrassed about getting shafted and he turned the other cheek when he shouldnt have but good on him anyway

As i already said, better graphics don't amount to hundreds of dollars more for the same bike. Paint I can see but for most people who don't treat their bike as a show piece and actually ride it, paint chips are the least of the reason for buying a bike.

Hey man, to each their own. There's alot of reasons to buy or not to buy a BD bike, and the position that "everyone who doesn't see how awesome a deal BD is is wrong" is just as silly as saying they're crap because they're cheap.

Me personally, I don't like the styling of the bikes. I would never give my money to a company that said "you might get a threaded headset, you might get threadless, you won't know until it arrives though". I find Mike's presence on this forum annoying. Most of all I don't like the idea of giving money to a company that designs absolutely nothing new and just remarkets existing designs.

So it's like I said, there's plenty of reasons to buy or not to buy a bikesdirect bike, and it all comes down to individual priorities. FWIW paint that chips easily also exposes metal to rust easily, which is a practical consideration as much as an aesthetic one

It leads me to believe that BD has a bad reputation because of people like you, who haven't purchased from them before, go online and scare off newbies by making up information to satisfy your point.

I have bought 2 bikes from BD and I knew exactly what I was getting for my money simply because my LBS is full of pricks who think everything they sale is made of gold! Not to mention talking "Shop" with the mechanics is impossible cause they think you're fishing for repair info. Not every LBS is a good source for bike purchasing and BD is a good alternative regardless what angry kids like you think. The rest of us work for our money, daddy doesn't pay anymore!
