Anyone ridden an IRO?
 

I'm looking to build up a new fix for myself. I've considered Soma and Surly frames but it seems like everyone and their mother rides a Steamroller these days. Recently I discovered IRO Cycles in Dirtrag and checked out their website. They have the 7005 aluminum Jamie Roy and a cro mo Mark V. They also sell complete bikes for $499-$799. Anyone ridden one of these or know about them?

I was thinking about getting the markv for myself but I just didn't want to wait for the shipping. I needed a new bike faster than hat whole 2 day wait. I think if you went with the steel markv you would be making a wise choice. One of the cool things about those frames is the fact that you could run some very fat tires on it. The guy is very cool as well and he probaly could use the money so he can keep making the bikes. granted this is coming from the guy who went and got a specialized langster insted. And I kind of don't like aluminium frames after riding this. Stay with the steel.

Have you seen the Mark V or ridden it? How do you think it would compare to the Soma Rush or Steamroller?

Do a search - quite a few people here either have one or have an opinion of them. Positive for the most part.

I rode the aluminium one, I however did talk to a messenger here in Boston that has the mark v and he seems to love it.

I just built up my Jamie Roy and love it. I got a good deal on a frame that's missing some decals and built it up as a fixie. I would definetely recommend these products and if you haven't had the chance, call Tony at Iro Cycles. He's a great guy and he's very knowledgeable about fixed or single speed bikes. He will help you whether you're buying a frame or a comple bike. Very highly recommended.
