sooo....

I am new to cycling but quickly have gained in interest in fixed gears. I just took apart my extra non-operational (due to tires, and wheels) 10 speed in hopes of converting it to a fixed. I was just wondering if anyone has any idea on where to pick up some good deals on wheels, cogs, and possibly a new crank. Any help is good though.

Thanks in advance

Frank

Maybe eBay?

I might get semi-flamed for this, but are these even worth my time? Keep in mind that money is somewhat tight here.

I don't personally have any experience with those wheels but for another $70 or so you can get the Weinmann deep V's.

I got a fixed wheelset with tires and cog for 129 from bikeisland.com . the wheels arent bad for the price but aren't deep v's or anything

Thanks. They have some good deals as far as I can tell. Anyone have a suggestion on what gearing I should run to start out?

get the alex set from benscycle.com and startaround 80 gear inches. If you dont know what that is there is a search function you should probably familiarize yourself with very quickly.

Start with about 70 gear inches. You can adjust from there.

If you get a free moment you might click "Search the Forums" just under the BF banner. It can answer all these questions and much, much more.

Thank you, thank you. I am getting an idea of what should be going on I think.
