woahhhh! love it

I'd like to see the 2008 Sonik's frame and fork with the 2009's components...
I think it's nice that Jamis seems to be thinking more about how their bikes look than they used to...
They're manufacturing mass market sculptures...Like a higher-end Ikea...
If the thing rides well, that's a bonus...

I've got a Coda, and it's a sweet-looking bike. Jamis has classy designs.

I've seen that frame in person and I gotta say I'm a fan. The welds are surprisingly clean like the Concept, and the thing just looks built for speed. I'm sure it's more aero than most of the other stuff priced at the same range too, but you'd have to wind tunnel test that to be sure...

xiamsammyx 09-26-08 07:17 PM

yeah?

Funny, I've been hunting for a 2008 one... the 2008 was right under $1300, the new one is supposed to be right under $1600. They added the FSA Carbon cranks, and the Deda Stem / Bar combo (over EA50 road bars) and also made the wheel cutout in the frame a bit more drastic.

I wish they kept the Omnium cranks though...

Also is that a pic from Interbike this year?

jhaber 09-26-08 07:40 PM

Really like the look of the frame. I wonder why they changed the crank set though. I know the new one is carbon but it doesn't use external bearings like the 2008 omnium model (although I could be wrong).

I test road the 08 a week ago and while it is a nice bike it just felt off for a track model. The bike looks like a pure track machine but has holes for a front and rear brakes which is fine, and big clearances under the front fork, but together these things seem weird on a bike that is build to be a pure track bike. If it is supposed to be meant for the track why not go all the way? I wonder what the 09 is like and would like a chance to ride it.

Wow! Wonder if they'll offer frame and fork only.
Gotta start planning that yard sale and selling my blood plasma.

I've ridden the '08. Rides fantastically. Similar to the Felt TK2, but I think if I had to choose, I'd go with the Jamis. Plus those $800 Am. Classics are pretty awesome.

hot!

They do currently, but it's $800 or $1300 for the whole bike... the A/C wheels retail for $800 by themselves, so you'd be better getting the complete and selling the parts off it.

the sonik is a legit bike. the 2008 is comparable *at least what my butt tells me* in ride and handling to my concept when i took my friend's sonik for a couple of laps at the track this season.

i just wanted the black omniums that came stock on the bike...

dddave 09-28-08 02:07 AM

when i have the money i believe my next frame will be a sonik. ****, i love these bikes.

The paint is sexy, that's about it. That price is way too high, especially with that wheelset

Justice pays, English doesn't.

The more I look at this frame the more I like the way it looks. I think this and the argon18 electron are my 2 fav realistically buyable alu frames.
