Bottom Bracket & Cup Set
 

I'm replacing my bottom bracket with a Phil Wood stainless steel bracket and it seems necessary if not a good idea to replace the Cup Set as well. I've looked on Sheldon Brown & Wikipedia without feeling certainty in regard to various sizes and the inner workings of the bottom bracket. I own an English made bike which seems to make a difference. I'd like to use nothing but Phil Wood parts and plan on replacing everything except the chainring, pedals and crank arms, any advice and additional knowledge would be helpful.

My bike is an on-il pompino, single speed, btw. I'm a neophyte in regard to building etc and plan on having a bike shop do the assembly but would like to have a good idea of what I'm talking about before I take the bike in.

what? you need a phil cup set to work with a bb.. so unless you already have a phil you need new cups..

Phil bottom brackets consist of the cartridge

Typically your choice of bottom bracket length is guided by the crank you're chosing to use.

you'll also need a phil cup tool as well. the shop that you take your bike too may or may not have one

Thanks for the responses, The velocio.com was particularly helpful in clarifying a few questions. I'm going to call ahead about the phil cup tool but I figure they do since they sell other Philwood products.
