I've looked and cannot find.

I assume these are still being made? How do I go about getting one, is there a website?

Unless you speak Japanese you'll have a real hard time cause they def dont speak English.
If you want a track frame to ride on the street...dont tell them that.

you may want to give Gabe over at NJSblogspot a holler. he seems to always have a good stock of Makinos at all times. to echo DH, i hear it can be tough for a non-Japanese speaking person to work out a custom frame from Makino. 2nd hand my be your best bet. although, i did shoot them an email on a whim to ask if they would be willing to mail me a new decal set for my 2nd Makino frame that im having restored. they responded in decent english and asked for the frames build number. sent it to them, and two days later i got a fresh sticker set in the mail. SO geeked about that.

I've only been in the shop once. I was interested in a 3rensho pursuit frame, but the owner would only give me sarcastic answers to my questions. When asked what kind of steel it was, his only reply was that it was "Japanese", which could mean Kaisei, Tange, or just about anything. I talked to him for about 5 minutes and he never looked up from his computer once. In short, he treated me like garbage so I didn't bother spending $400 in his store.

The store is known throughout Madison for it's elitist attitude and snooty attendants. I have a friend that was refused service on her old ten-speed because her bike is "piece of crap" (It is an old Huffy, and it is a piece of crap, but she just needed them to fix a flat so she could ride to class and they flat out refused to do so).

I've heard stories of his mechanics ruining vintage frames and him refusing to make right the situation with the customer.

They do have some awesome bikes there, but I wouldn't deal with them again if you paid me. whew.

Not to mention their website looks like an 8th graders intro to internet web design project.

Wow, yeah, they sound pretty bad. However, if I avoided every bike shop that was run by elitist f*cks, I probably could only go to one or two in the entire metropolitan area.

Maybe that's just what you should do.
Why are you giving your money to shops that treat you like sh*t?

I don't, really. I was just trying to make the point that ****ty people at bike shops seems kind of standard. The friendliest shops in New York tend to be kind of family oriented, great for basics, but not much else.

If I'm buying something for more than 20 bucks, I'm probably doing it online.

I am lucky to have a fantastic shop within easy riding distance of me. Super friendly staff, one of the only ones around here who doesnt guffah at fixed gear riders.

The girl who runs the place was pretty chill, however they didn't have much stocked yet. She told me she that way more stuff was on the way. By now I bet they're up and running. They actually have free Q & As and repair lessons once or twice a week, which already just shows they're patient and willing to pass on knowledge instead of letting people stupidly go back to them to have work done that they could do themselves. In general, they seem to have a pretty good attitude, I think.

Sadly, it's kind of far from my hood...

$3000 (minus a penny) for a Makino frame? They are less than half that price in Japan. At that price, you could get on a plane and pick it up!

I was offered a beautiful, 58cm, Columbus tube, NJS frame for about $1200 directly from Makino.
