saw the Schwinn Cutter finally
very disappointing
nearly as heavy as a 70 Varsity - horrible stem - different components than shown in the catalog/websites
the all black, no logos bit wasn't so bad, at least
too bad - I was hoping it would be a fun, decent cheap bike
anyone else run into one yet?

so is the Draft, and this thing has several pounds on it
it's Wal mart bike heavy, without shocks or derailleurs or gears
several people at my work have expressed interest in cycling, and like my SS - on the same block is an LBS that carries Schwinn, great guys -- it'd be nice to be able to recommend a bike that's not too far out of the price range they would expect to pay for a bike (not being avid cyclists)
also, believe it or not, I don't think hi-ten steel is the worst thing in the world - plenty of perfectly serviceable hi-ten frames of tolerable weight out in the real world, being used every day - the Cutter is simply heavier than it needs to be, if you ask me (and you did)

schwinn hasn't produced a quality bike since they got bought out by pacifica (wal-mart bike kings!) like 4 years ago or whatever it was
