Going from 700x23 to 700x25
 

hey i currently have a 700x23 tire on my rear wheel and im not knowledgeable about the sizes but can i fit a 700x25 tire on?

probably, but you may not if your frame has tight clearances.

I actually just ordered a 25c tire because of the sale at pro bike kit. There shouldn't any noticeable differences should there(currently have 23c)?

itll be a bit wider and overall diameter will be a bit larger.

guys, we're talking 2mm. you aren't going to tell anything, and the tires will fit just fine. the only discernible difference might be that your ride feels a tad bit smoother.

i went from 27x1 1/8" tyres *which wouldnt fit on my motobecane messenger* to 27x1" tyres. nao they fit with a LOT of room to spare. idk hao much different a 700c tyre would be, but it made a world of difference with 27" tyres

27" is also a bit bigger than 700c. that's 630mm versus 622mm. 1 1/8" is also about 3.2mm different than 1".

weren't messenger frames cut for 700c wheels anyway? running a 27" wheel will change your clearances for sure.

So in effect, you post basically said nothing of value.

23 vs 25 is within the realm where tire size dishonesty range. E.g. The 23 may be a lot smaller than the 25, equivalent or larger. Unless you are running credit card thing clearances on your frame already it is *highly* unlikely you are not able to fit 25's given that you can run 23's.

yeah. messengers come with 700x23 tires. i tried my old roadie rims on it a long time ago but they didnt fit. nao with the skinnier/shorter tires, they work

Two issues: will the larger tire fit your rims, and will they fit between your frame's seat stays and brakes.

You can see that a 25 tire fits the narrowest rim in this chart, and I even squeezed a 28 tire onto a 13mm rim.

I bought a $20 set of calipers to measure various things: stems, seatposts, rims. My neighbor said I would be surprised how much I use them, and he was right. I don't think you're going to have a problem with rim width or frame/brake clearances. But if you're concerned, buy or borrow some calipers and measure the inside width of your rims.

But basically, don't worry, get the tires and mount them. I've taken 23's off all my road bikes (although my son likes them on his bikes). The smallest I have is 25's, then 28's, and this week I mounted some 32mm Conti-Contacts on my singlespeed, my favorite size and tire so far.
