Soma Rush???
 

I've been riding a converted schwinn for a while now and have swapped everything out but the frame. I was looking into getting a Soma Rush and have read a few good reviews for them but was wondering what people here think IF THEY HAVE RIDDEN ONE. Of course its going to feel more like a race bike than my schwinn but i want to hear all the pros and cons whatever they may be. I searched and found some relevant info but nothing spectacular so lets hear about it.

I had one for about 6 months. I liked it, but then I bought a surly steamroller and liked it SO much better. Can't really say why, I just did. But overall, no major complaints about the soma.
Why do you want the rush? Did it just catch your eye?

i like mine. only thing i can really cay about it is i appreciate the raised bb.

the real reason it caught my eye is because it has a 1in. steerer tube, thus I could use the fork im using with my schwinn. It is priced competitively with other bikes and I was just wondering about it in general though - the steerer tube just being a bonus. Any other riders?

Generally I'd say that it is the best mid-range frameset out there. Decent steel, and the geo is tight but with minimal toe-overlap (speaking from a 55 or 56 (forget which I have).

The BB is appropriately high for a bike that could legitimately be raced by a beginner on the track. The seatstay bridge has a brake hole, but there are no cable guides, which strikes me as silly. Like, why have one but not the other? But of course that's a totally insignificant issue.

If you go lower down the market you're going to find heavier bikes with lower-end steel and slacker geo (with the exception of the pista). Going higher up, the prices spike significantly for anything new. Pista concepts and fuji track pro's are significantly cheaper that high-end steel.

Good bikes. Get one.

I just got a Soma Rush...I love it. It is a very fun bike. Buy one! You may have difficulties right now though, they have had a shortage of frames lately (I bought mine wholesale because I work at a bike shop, your LBS may have them in stock though).

I normally ride a 56 cm bike, for the Rush I got a 55cm and it fits me perfectly. I plan on racing though, if I new it would just be a pleasure bike, I would have gotten a 57cm -- but that is not for me.

I hope you buy one, you cannot beat it for the money.

cool im getting about the same feedback I read about before, seems like a pretty solid frame. Just one question, are the decals removable?

the 1" headtube is actually a pain in the ass. i'm on my second fork, one threaded and one threadless, and it's hard to get a decent track fork that works. the corresponding fork is not as nice as the frame.

op, i doubt your fork will work. is it for 700s even? do you know the rake?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the big decals (down tube and top tube) are removable, while the small emblems (that don't look that bad to me) are not.

The frame is made for a threadless fork/stem, so you'll have to use an adapter if you want to use your threaded. You might look at the suggested rake on their website, as well.

Neat-o. So the only permanent one is the one on the seat tube?

Also I have an aftermarket 1in threadless fork, headset, stem setup already that I would use on this frame if I purchased it so I wouldnt miss out on a bunch of money having to sell all that and then re-buy new stuff. Thanks, everyone has been very helpful so far

i have a soma rush, it's a high end tiawan frame!

I think it is a great bike, somebody already mentioned the high BB which is nice when taking turns steep and fast. This is my daily and it has made my commute infinitely more .pleasurable, I highly recommend it :thumb:

I also use this as mu daily commuter and around town. It's light enough and no toe over lap (for me at least). I used to have a pista which was a bit lighter and tighter but with tons of overlap. Generally though I would say that this is a very sturdy bike that rides well and I don't feel bad about leaving locked up. All decals are removable except for the one on the seat tube and the head badge. A good frame for the money, probably pretty comparable to the steamroller.
