Cleaning Scuffed Wheels

I'm looking for advice on how to clean my non-machined, green Deep Vs. I let a friend take the bike for the spin around the block last night and forgot to tell him NOT TO USE THE BRAKE unless he needed to. Now there are black marks from the brake all around the outer rim. I've tried soap and water but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas?

scotch brite pad.

Any citrus degreaser. Or speed degreaser. Just wipe with water so if you do have to brake there is no residue to brake through.

I wonder if cork (carbon wheel) brake pads would damage a non-machined deep-v?

no, no scotch brite--- no
use goo gone and a sock inside out--- slowly--- or a little semi-chrome--- slightly wiping in one driection-- while I drink this bourbon..... slowlly.........................
