good u lock

what is a good one that cant be broken into with a pen?

TheSodaJerk 10-09-08 02:23 AM

Any of the traditionally keyed u-locks made by kryptonite, or a myriad of other brands

Is this post a joke?

7eleven 10-09-08 05:53 AM

well, if this post isn't a joke . . .

kryptonite's locks no longer use the "O" key

so kryptonite mini or the bulldog mini

Kryptonite Mini. End Thread.

Kryptonites used to be able to broken into with a bic pen, but they have since changed the style of lock. ANY lock you buy now will be fine. Kryptonite minis are good as well as OnGaurd Bulldogs.

The Bulldog Mini should be stronger than the Kryptonite Mini becasue the Bulldog uses a dual-locking mechanism, while the Kryptonite only locks one side of the shackle. This theoretically makes the Kryptonite more susceptible to leverage attacks. A mini U lock is very convenient, but it limits you in what you can actually lock up to.

soma "anti-jack" mini ulock is the smallest and lightest. i got one at my LBS, its hard to find them online. I paid $35 and like it more than the krypto because it is slightly smaller than the evo.

___________ Mini. Problem Solved.

stay away from big ulocks. they can be broken with a car bottle jack. the small ulocks actually cost more than the big ones because they can't be broken that way. so buy a mini and pay the extra $.

I went with the Krypto Mini U because I've heard issue regarding Bulldogs not opening. I didn't want to chance it so I bought the Mini U.

The New York Fahgettaboudit Mini has a double deadbolt.

And weighs about as much as carrying a second wheelset with you.

that's only if you're locking up where you are leaving a lot of empty space in the U and someone is able to fit a jack in. keep in mind that too small of a ulock can limit your options.

And they can be cut with wire cutters.

um yeah, you are right.
You guys may have picked up on my sarcasm more if I had said "twine. ftw"
I carry two krypto mini's with me. I love my wheels and didn't want to risk having my front wheel exposed.
