Opinions Needed on Capo!!
 

What do you guys think of a pretty much BRAND new 08 he just didn't like it that much? Worth it? I can talk the guy down cause he said he'd be willing to go down, but how low is fair? I think $575-600 or should I got lower? I'm not paying $650 aka the asking price. ;) I hope. lol.

I love my capo, but I bought it as a frameset. I've heard back things about the stock components. Still, it looks like a pretty good deal to me.

Always go a little lower than your preferred price, because they're going to try to push you higher.

I've heard as well about the components, but I'm new to fixie and biking except on my huffy which is a POS anyways so I figure once I start noticing thinks bugging me I'll upgrade from there plus I got a good LBS near me in The Bike Biz and College Cyclery plus Bicycle Chef so I'm sure they can all guide me into some nice stuff. :lol: I just wanted a good frame to build up on once I get better or want to get better parts.

I also love my capo. I bought it as a complete bike for $800 from my LBS in flat black. It was my second fixed gear and while some of the components on it aren't top of the line, they're not complete garbage and I'm sure they'll do just fine for a while. Over time I sold off most of the stock parts and now the only thing left stock on the bike is the headset (but I went a little overboard). As long as that frame and everything are in the condition that he says it is, I wouldn't feel duped paying $600-625 for it. Just make sure the frame is in mint condition. Also, he says he's including some Nitto Bullhorns. I could be wrong on this but I don't think Nitto makes bullhorns in a 31.8 clamp size. You could use a shim, but I wouldn't recommend it. Anways, I say do it. It's a great bike and I love mine! Good luck.

Another well satisfied capo owner here as well. I bought the complete and swapped out everything with parts I had set aside for another build and couldn't be happier with the end result. The LBS guys were right, you really are just paying for the frameset when you buy the complete as the parts installed don't even come close to doing the frame justice. The frame is based off their CAAD design which roadies will tell you is one of the finest aluminum racing frames available under $1000. The skinny, curved seatstays really help absorb bumps and road shock and you will LOVE the bb stiffness when launching into a sprint out of the saddle. Quick and responsive without crossing the line into harsh and twitchy. I test rode a jamis sputnik as well at the time but went for the Capo and could not be happier.

I actually have emailed the guy about the bike a few weeks ago. Seems like a great guy, i was interested in it because i have a 54 frame and his 52 would do me better. I was going to buy the bike and swap all my parts over then sell mine. I have a flat black capo which im slowly changing all the parts out on. great bike.

the Capo is a very fine frameset. Cannondale's stock builds of them have gotten a bit silly and cheap, but the frame is quite race-worthy.

I own a 2008 and I love it. The Capo is a great frame.

Well I'm meeting with the guy to buy it hopefully. And be the new owner of a shiny new 08' Capo. :)

dont do it- there are better bikes for less money. i worked at one of the nations best cannondale bike shops for the last year as a mechanic. i built a few capos and i was very dissapointed (because of its ~800 price range and this: "Every single stock component on that bike, unfortunately is complete and utter shyte"). the raleigh rush hour and surly are much nicer in my opinion- it may just be my love of steel, but still. the capo felt cheap as both ss and fixie setup and these were on nice suburban roads. its frame was a bit more agressive than other fixies ive ridden- i will, however, note that the frame looks super sexy. i think for the money (if your not doing it the bikes direct way) that a ruch hour or steamroller are much nicer- its just a bike though. good luck

I love my 2008 Capo. The frame is the best made for the money in my opinion but then I have always loved the rigid feel of the Cannondale frame. Both of my other road bikes are Cannondale. Some of the componentry is sub par but I have over 1,000 miles on the Capo now and it is still going well. I switched the seat, handlebars, pedals, tires and brake handles right away. The rest I will replace with better components as it wears.

stay away from college. they even said themselves that their not a road bike style shop. they dont carry folding 700x23 tires. and they insulted my deep v's when i went in one day stating that it was a hard to mount rim do it being "made in australia, what do you expect???" when i think in fact one of the dudes is australian.
