I need help with a brake.
I have looked everywhere for instructions on how to put on a front brake.
I got the track bike front brake kit off bike island and it just came today. I put the brake on and the lever on the bar and i just can't figure out how to put the cable in the lever and in to the brake. Sorry for this but could anyone help me. I want to put it on in the next 30 minutes so i can ride it tommorow morning. Thank you. |
Sorry for the double post but i need to get off in like 15 minutes. Please someone help.

tension the cable by sqeeing the pads in while tighten ing cable bolt.
|
well first off what kinda lever is it?
|
It is the lever that come's on the kit on bikeisland.
just a drop bar lever. i just need to know how to put the cable through the lever and how and where. I can do everything else. |
|
take the wire out of the housing
string it through the brake lever, with the bulb on one end at the lever. put the housing back on the wire put the wire through the caliper with the quick release up. put down the quick release. |
later, when you're not in a hurry you can cut the wire and housing shorter so there isnt so much extra wire.

I was wondering if it made a difference to put the lever on the right or left side?
|
just preference

Cool, i plan on using that lever on the right side :)

Thanks for the additional arrows, I also felt my write-up may be a bit confusing.
As to putting the lever on the right or left, aren't these single lever/caliper sets made to go on a certain side? I know most levers are molded a certain way as to only go on their marked side (by molded i mean ergonomically designed to have your fingers wrap over the lever). However you still can flop it to put on the other side. |

Because this thread seems resolved, I took the liberty of adding a few more arrows for those who still might be a little lost.
