1. Easier for a noob like me to get the tension right. I flop the wheels 2x a week. I can do it manually, but it's easier and faster this way.

2. The MKS I had would not fit the drop outs.

It's a MOOTS Ti lay-back post. Until Velo-Orange gets more post in with more set-back, I will use this one.

Question for the previous 2: What kind of break levers are you using? they look fairly modern, but I didn't think V-brake levers would work on sidepull brakes. I've had to scour swap meets to find some, and ended up with some crappy diacompe levers that rattle. I ask because I'd rather not use cross-levers.

I am using Tektro Cross Levers. If you want(MTB levers) Shimano makes ones for road brakes.

I have these too and they are also very nice.

Speed Dial 7's
. They are long pull, but if you set them up right they work OK. Not perfect, but OK. Definately work better than the crappy ones on the end of the bullhorn the bike came with.

Sold the tri-spoke. Otherwise how it sits.

fivehoursfree 10-16-08 08:10 PM

Well here is mine. Pictures are kind of great, maybe if it is sunny outside tomorrow afternoon I will take some more.
Mods:
riser
stem
dura ace cog and lockring
generic black seatpost.
Took off the brakes and put a 105 brake, which I stole off my girlfriend's bike because she never rides it.

What's crappy about the stock Tektros? They work very well for me.

fivehoursfree 10-17-08 10:05 AM

I can't vouch for them, I took off the bullhorns right away.

I've set up V-brake levers on road brakes before. It works, but you have to pull hard. I know someone made some levers that had 2 different pivot positions for use with V and Canti brakes. Anyone know what these are?

Yep, mine are fine with Nashbar brakes. If I go back to that style levers, I will use them again.

They are just not a very high quality lever... but they do work.

fivehoursfree 10-17-08 01:47 PM

Yea, thats cool looking. I'd put a black stem/seatpost. Just my take.
