Threaded to threadless adapter

Im assembling a bike for my wife, thats more of an art project for me than anything, and Im having a tough time finding a stem that I really like for less than $90 that I can get anodized to match the rest of the components.

Essentially Im rebuilding the Fuji Obey bike, but swapping out all the Gold Components for Pink, and using front and rear brakes.

The only goldish stuff on the bike will be the nipples on the stock wheel set, and the copperish buttons on the saddle.

So far I've got an older Dura Ace crank in 5x130, pink dia compe calipers, miche primato post to go on the Fuji frame and fork.

The stem/bar options for threadless headsets are enormous compared to threaded, but Im having a hard time justifying using the adapter just to make my search for the appropriate stem easier.

Just get a cheap aluminum stem
In order to get it anodized it must be aluminum and find some other components to get anodized at the same time because they usually charge a flat fee of around 80$ unless you know the person who runs it like me :)

Nashbar has the adapter you're looking for, it's about $10. i have one and it works well and looks good.

yea nashbar is the only one i can think of. A LBS can probable order one but it will be a Dimension or Aheadset or something, and will probably the exact same thing as the nashbar.

Pun?

I honestly dont think the Nitto stems look to nice, and for the price of one of their pink ano. ones I'd rather just get a regular Nitto one and get it anodized myself.

No pun intended.

I think he's serious. Most threaded stems are for 1" steerer tubes. That means fewer stems to pick from and also fewer bars to use.

I use the threaded to threadless adapters exclusively on my bikes with threaded forks. They work very well. My problem is finding threaded headsets that go up high enough for my comfort. When I do find a threaded headset that's good and tall, usually it's not stiff enough. The threadless stem with the adapter is nice and stiff.

Kalloy makes a good one that's longer than the Nashbar or Dimension one.

As for looks, I think they look good, especially if you can find a silver threadless stem. If not, you can also get some ordinary threadless spacers to go between the threadless stem and the threaded bottom bracket for a "threadless look."
