Soma Somax Hubs

searched and only found threads with people thinking about trying these out and others recommending different hubs, apperently because know one has experience with these.

Those threads were all made a while ago. So, does anyone have anything positive/negative to say about them?

They're fixed/fixed and feel pretty solid but do have a bit of a steep price tag, so I wanted to hear some opinions before I pull the trigger.

Wow. Long post.

I had a set of the Somax wheels for a couple years. They're just rebranded Joytech hubs, also sold under the Dimension brand. They take regular 6000-series cartridge bearings, making them easy to overhaul.

There's not really much to say about them. They're simple cartridge hubs that require very little maintenance.

I don't think that's the same hub at all anymore.

They don't look like rebranded Joytech's/Formula's anymore. The hub itself looks a lot different (no cutouts on the flanges, and the area inbetween the flanges has a different shape than the hubs already mentioned.)

Can't believe it seems like no one gave these things a shot.

Look pretty different...

Do people not like the Kazane hubs?

What are the opinions on Dia-Compe Gran Compe's?

I have a Soma rear hub that is probably a year or so old and is certainly a rebranded Joytech (the bearing is labeled such). The bearings themselves are already quite notchy feeling when I spin the axle in my fingers but perhaps this is common with lowend cartridge hubs, I have no other experience.
When I got my wheel it was the only affordable, prebuild fixed hub wheel available to me.
I definately wouldn't pay more for them than Formulas (unless it is the pretty colours you are after, I guess).
