Bullhorn Drop
How much of a drop and what width are you guys running with your TT/Pursuit style bullhorns? I'll be doing mostly city riding with a bit a distance thrown in. Here's a picture of what kind a bars I'm talking about:

Go with whatever size fit you, measure your shoulder width and that's the size bar you should be running give or take. I'm supposed to ride a 42cm bar but i feel comfy in 40s no problem. |
Syntace Stratos 200, 41cm (they taper in) with a slight drop.
|
I have used Syntace Stratos, 44cm flop-n-chops and Nitto RB-021 (OP's photo). I didn't like the inward bend of the Syntace, the Nitto is great but a bit awkward on the tops due to the sloping angle and flop-n-chops were surprisingly the best all around.
I want to get RB-018 from Nitto next - it's like a flop-and-chop but with longer "horns." |
while we're on this topic is there any other bull horns similar to the rb-009 but without that huuuge drop?

syntace stratos here as well, 38cm. they're pretty ok
|
i have the OP bars - nitto rb-0021s and love them.
my bike came with drops, but i prefer the hand positions offered when using pursuits. i believe mine are 40cm wide and obv have 60mm drop. you can get way down on em. |
Nashbar bulls, 5cm drop.
|
Profile airwing - 42cm. Shallow drop, I believe 38mm. Love em. Super comfy.
|
+ 1 on the nashbar drops
|
I use nitto rb-021's (pictured). But I think they have a deeper drop on them. I could be wrong. I love them. Buy em.

^what are you talking about? the rb-021 offers a variety of hand positions: tops, shoulders, horns, drops. I find that bar to be extremely comfy and ride with it well over 75% of the time. (over my flat bar and drops.)

Nashbar 40cm work just fine for me.

I also run with a set of Profile Airwing. Mine are 44cm but they are comfortable for distances. I have rode as much as 80 miles with them. I looked at some of the others but could not imagine riding a large distance with the extreme angle from the stem down on each side. |
^ for sure.
I was really tempted by the nitto rb021s like the OP is suggesting, but for me there wasn't enough room on the tops for me to ride comfortably. I like my hands a little farther away from the stem, and on the nittos it put me right at the bend. The nittos are very sexy though. |

Profile Stoker 26 - 0 drop and 44cm. Perfect.
|
I agree with thre other guys about the Profile Airwing bullhorns. I've tried maybe 10 different bullhorns and these are the perfect medium/light drop for my tastes. My stem has drop to keep my bars down low where i like them.
