Low flange hubs_what do you like?
I want to go with a low flange hub for a change and would like to know what you like or what to stay away from. Campy track and Phils are way expensive so Shimano might be the one. What else is there in LF?

dura ace low flange are under rated and also tight.
i had a miche low flange and maybe it was just this specific hub but it was a 14mm bolt not a 15mm. and that got pretty annoying

No, that's just how Miche rolls. Non-standard **** basically. They also use a Campy threading for the lockring, so only Miche, Campy and I believe Phil will work for lockrings.

I'd love to run a flangeless Simple eject hub if it was ever available for track wheel builds

word on the miche's thanks for the info.
only other thing that comes to mind are the mavic ellipse hubs, pretty sure you can order them individual from mavic as ''replacements'' for the rims, but youd need some low spoke count drilled rims.

Do you know why Miche has all this stuff that is campy? And even looks campy? Because Miche's are campy reject hubs.

I ordered the Dura Ace LF hub, Mavic open pro rim and double butted spokes. All from the fixed LBS. He says he should have it done on Monday. Cool thing is it's only about 4 miles away. Now that's a local BS.

4 miles? Must suck when you have to hoof it carrying the bike. My LBS is .8 mi or .4 mi (the closer one is $$$ and a lot less knowledgeable.

Do you possibly live in a large city where people can actually walk to their destination? I have had that pleasure when visiting big cities but I live in so cal where everyone has to drive everywhere, usually. Therefore an awesome fixed LBS 4 miles away is spectacular.

Nope, small city with two bike stores, my place is just located in the middle (somewhat) of them. Youre right though, Socal is definitely heavily hinged upon cars as its main transportation.

miche = good, DA = good, suzue = gone
The Miche hubs that I've played around with were some legit, quality pieces. Maybe a bit heavy but most definitely strong and smooth, with a beautiful finish.
I like the look of Dura Ace hubs too. Are 36-hole DA's NJS-cert?
I was told that the owner of Suzue (Mr. Suzue?) died, and that Suzue has closed up already. Actually, here's a thread about that.

+1 on the Dura Ace 7710's. They are bomb-proof, sealed, and incredibly strong. As an added bonus to all this performance, they are surprisingly inexpensive when compared to similar hubs, like the Campagnolos.
