That's a difference of 0.19 pounds between a Deep V and an Open Pro. That's 0.38lbs for the pair. Is an extra 0.38lbs on your bike really sacrificing ride for fashion? Just for reference one 12oz can of beer weighs 0.75lbs.

yes but .38lbs of rotational mass makes a HUGE difference! dead weight lb for lb has very little impact as compared to rotational mass. It's like getting 15lb lighter wheels on a car and still increasing acceleration even though the car weighs 2000lbs. Also you should know that the further away from the rotational center the weight is the larger the impact is. This is how you can get away with more weight on a hub and decrease weight on a rim and the wheels feel much lighter. Check your physics before posting :thumb:

This is also wrong. Maybe YOUR lbs does not waver in price due to no circumstance. When I got my dp-18s and formula hubs a local LBS matched online prices for me.

Negligible. The ratio for rotational to static mass is about 2:1 for a bike wheel. So double my previous weight to 170grams or 0.76 lbs, about the weight of 12oz's of beer, or juice for all you straight edgers. The extra 0.38lbs will also only be felt during acceleration and braking (if you're even that sensitive to force). This is accounting for the weight being at the most outer part of the wheel. So if we were going to get picky it would actually be less.

So I stand strong on my point, how is that sacrificing ride for fashion. Unless you're a weight weenie, in which you wouldn't be looking at Open Pro's anyways.

Also comparing it to a car is like comparing a rubber band gun to a Gatling. There are other forces to think about with a car. Unsprung mass including unsprung rotational, sprung mass, and even hybrid mass.

Why not? Their creds seem good:

"Pro Wheel Builder has been building wheels since 1994. Our experienced technicians have built over 2500 wheels to include: road wheels, aero wheels, downhill wheels, cross country wheels, tandem wheels, cyclo cross wheels, bmx wheels and recumbent wheels. Our Barnett and Shimano certified technicians have over 20 years experience. All of our wheels are hand built one at a time. With our experience and qualifications we guarantee that you will get the highest quality wheels available."

Build wheels all day for a great price, no shop no overhead, seems like a good business model to me.

Because you cant see their beards and talk to them about what kind of beer they lyke duhhhhh no way can someone who works for a successful business know how to build wheels.

We've got a nifty bike shop around here and the wheel builder is blind. Watching him build and true wheels is crazy.
