Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

2007 Specialized Langster

I have the following stock setup:
CHAIN KMC Z-510HX, 1/2" x 3/32"

CHAINRINGS 42T CNC Zen Messenger

CASSETTE / FREEWHEEL Shimano 16t Freewheel

I've never changed these on I bike i've bought but can i just buy a 15T or 14T freewheel, install, and it will be fine ?

Yes... replace the 16tfw or if the hub us flip/flip, thread it on the vacant side. But... it will reposition the wheel so assuming you have enough chain (going smaller, not bigger), you'll be pulling the rear wheel/hub further back in the fork ends... so... just play around with it. You'll be good.

Its easier to just get a new chainwheel that's bigger.
