Retro Wool Jerseys

I like wool. Unfortunately, vintagevelos.com's prices are way over my budged. Is there a cheap source of wool jerseys, plain or with simple graphics?

Info much appreciated etc.

yours,

- B

I think I might be able to afford a cycling cap from vintage velos. $124 for a shirt is too rich for me too.

Well Bikkhu,
Next time you're in the SoCal area, I suggest you visit the Rose Bowl swap meet. Used but clean wool jerseys from the 70's can be found here.....cheap.

Wool Jerseys

I have a whole bunch of Wool Jerseys That I got from Kucharik in So.Cal
They are not exactly "Cheap" but they are cheaper than Vintage Velo. Actually I have a couple of them that I got from Vintage Velo and the ones from Kucharik are far superior in my estimation. Better quality sewing on the better quality Merino wool and better fit also. They are made right here in the good old USA if that makes a difference to. No retro logo's just solids in both short and long sleeve. Check Chicago Bike for sales that they have sometimes or Yellow Jersey in Madison for sales. For direct purchase from the mfgr. go to www.kucharik.com I highly recommend them.

Ebay is a good start. Search in Cycling for "wool". Another place to find secondhand 70's wool is either in second hand clothing stores, or, believe it or not, in shops that specialise in rave gear. I got a couple from a raver shop and they were only 25 bucks. It is tough to find big sizes though, I have to warn you.

Companies that have done or still do wool tops are Salsa, Wild Woolies, Woolistic, Alessandro, Smartwool, N-Zone, Icebreaker, Kucharik, Woolywarm, Ibexwear etc. I'm sure there are many others, but I can't remember them right now.

Boure (Ned Overend's company) still has plain ones in stock for $80. Sorry for the late post; here's the link:
