Double Straps/Toe Clips question

Hi I'm new and have recently been looking at getting double straps for my Kilo TT. I'm using MKS Sylan pedals right now with nylon straps, I know I know nylon. So what I'm interested in is either some good clips that will accommodate the double straps or possibly riding without clips and just using double straps. Pros/Cons?

oh ps I read the other posts on double straps and figured I might a well get a set to last me and got a pair of Toshi.

im bout to get some doubles too....the other day i was skidding with my single straps and my foot slipped out while going into an intersection......NOT FUN. luckily i was able to apply intense back pressure in time to slow to a stop.

soma toe clips w/ soma double straps ftw

yea im in philadelphia

and exactly as geeknerd said. any good combos? i was looking at regular mks clips to match my pedals but i don't think that theyre going to fit double straps.

Doubles will work fine with your pedals.
Use clips with them too.

Dimension makes a set of doubleclips now, I think. Looks like they're going by the All-City brand too, judging from the QBP catalog.

i ordered black toshi doubles, but the dealer sent me natural white. i was hoping to trade for blacks or reds at a shop in town as they were unopened, but it seems quite a few places dont even know what they are. i was wondering if you wanted this color and could order the color i wanted and then switch, new for new. however, i couldnt resist trying out the whole new setup of gr9s/adjustable mks clips/aforementioned doubles so they are now (barely) no longer new. if you are still interested, let me know, and i would be eternally and monetarily indebted. either way, my review on going from the stock kilo setup to these is two thumbs up. riding brakeless, i never felt safe enough to ride at a nice clip, but now i can drop the hammer and stop with much better control and confidence. gr9s are comfortable no matter how soft the soles, adjustable mks clips give you the precise toe and strap position you need, and toshis back up the hype.

do double toe straps need to be twisted (the part that you thread through the pedals?)

VDB_fan 12-17-08 12:27 AM

^ twist the rear, dont twist the front (not nec.)
dont need double either.. just use 4 singles.. cheaper.

Thats what im working with, it works fine for me.

Get some Toshi doubles. You won't regret it. They pretty much work with any cages. It's not a must to have a second set of gates in the cages. Just go right over the cages. My front straps are a bit tighter than the rear. Mountain bike plastic cages are roomier and flex more (without snapping) than the MKS toe clips. It's all personal preference.

If you're going to decide to just run straps with no cages. Go with Powergrips. Everyone who owns them loves them.

not if they are toshis

why does one need to twist the straps in the first place, won't the buckle/ friction keep it where it needs to be?

Depending on the strap, it can rotate towards the clip when you tug on it to tighten it, which is annoying.

I really don't see what a double strap will do that two single straps won't.
