Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Because it's a rip off. Offer $100 and go from there.

Saddle is OK.

Wheels are maybe OK.

Everything else kind of sucks.

Just to be clear, I am not saying that Ourys and riser bars suck, but given how cheap they are, there is no way they should determine if you should buy a particular bike.

specifically that frame is really marginal for that price. but it looks like they're trying to recoup some of the "new" component costs. it ain't worth anything close to 250.00 even in LA. IMO. also BTW that frames probably more like a 54cm not a 50cm. for 250.00 go buy one of these and do a conversion:

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/bik/923678853.html
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/bik/927334056.html

(that second bike listing is really big though)

i think the fact that bar spins is part of the title would prevent me from buying it regardless of price.

not everybody wants a bikesdirect bike. I know they are cheap- but there is something to be said about a true conversion.

However, I have several friends with those bikes, and they are very sick.

I actually bought a Raleigh for conversion off of that guy from the second posting. Really nice guy, and he has a lot of bikes.

Isn't a "true conversion" some kind of weird oxymoron? I don't get it.

.
Understood. I was merely pointing out that a brand new bike could be had for $50 more.
