No, there is not one. Some people are just convinced we've reach "Peak Threads" or something and should start conserving precious new thread material. |
is this something you're planning or something you've already built?
if built, post pics! |
I would not recommend Sugino RD2s, if you intend on having the chainring on the outside of the cranks, with the recommended 103mm Bottom Bracket. It will give you a 45mm chainline, which may not match the chainline on your hub, which you have not listed, but I assume it will be one that creates a 42mm chainline. One way to rectify it is to use a 107mm Bottom Bracket, and mount the chainring on the inside, which will give you a (more or less) 42mm chainline. I've just done so recently and my chainline seems damn near straight (42mm; Surly Hub)
I'm assuming that you care about your chainline. This may all be a moot point, if you intend to build a rear wheel with a Paul Track Hub, which if I remember correctly creates a 44mm chainline. Correct me if I am wrong, about the Paul Track Hub chainline. |
I get the HS , and seatpost tomorrow when the j&b deliverys show up...ahh gotta love 1 day service, no shipping! . then I will have pictures.

I don't care if you want to have a future build critiqued, but if you've already ordered it and are too impatient to just wait a day and post build pictures in the pictures thread then why start a thread? Our critiques will have no impact on a bike you've already decided on. And I agree maybe there should be a thread for critiques of everyone's future bikes, sounds like a good idea to me.

I wouldn't worry about a possible 3mm difference given the distance between the cog and the crank. The offset angle is going to be very small. Very small. Today's chains won't care a bit.
And who wants to carry a ruler with them so every time they change a tire or flip the wheel they can be absolutely sure they get the chainline in a perfect 42mm? Way Off topic: saw this kid walking to school yesterday. Freezing cold but since he's in high school he can't be bothered to wear a coat. Had the long hair in the eyes so he can't see where he's going. I had to stop for traffic so I roll down the window and ask him: "being emo sometimes sucks, doesn't it?" He just looked at me with that 'I just swallowed some of my mom's valiums because life is too hard' expression and shuffled on down the road. |
What does it take for a topic to be 'worthy' of a new thread on an internet blog? My god, get a life. If people wanna chat about it, let 'em.

I have a critique - by only listing your build parts and not posting a picture you are encouraging the alarming fetishization of this subforum. You expect everyone to know all of those parts, what they look like, and then mentally conceive what the bicycle looks like.
This is a seemingly endemic problem of this subforum. People become obsessed with their bicycles and parts and don't actually ride the bike enough or that far. I have no problem looking at a built bicycle and offering an opinion, but it is rather odd to just post parts and expect an evaluation. There, you have my critique. |
is this a current parts list ? or a want list...

My first thought was_where's the picture? After I didn't see one I lost all interest in what the parts were. It didn't matter.

if this is a "want" list i can understand if he needs some advice to see if he chose good components, but if he already ordered them, then this thread is pointless.

Fail

no pic no critique

No pic = Fail

Thread guzzling causes global warming. Kinda ironic since the Father of Global Warming also invented the Internet. |
