I'm about 5' 5", this frame fits me well- although its so small
what handlebars/grips would you suggest? I had them wrapped in a brownish fake leather- but i like the feeling of grips when im pumping up a hill-
not a big fan of bullhorns- I like drop bars, but i dont ride on the drops much up at school.
and yeah- the top tube pad is either a love or hate thing- its mainly on there so I can lock it up quick and not worry about it sliding off and getting all scratched.

I dont have a problem with the bars themselves its just that the green of the grips really clashes with the sort of grey/green/steel color of the bike itself, I'd say go for plain ol black.
And worrying about a mediocre schwinn conversion getting scratched is fairly worthless in my opinion, especially compared to how absurd the TT pad looks.
It just seems like you have a pretty simple clean bike that you threw a couple of puke stains on.
But thats just my opinion.

How is it that the frame can be small and fit you simultaneously?

well I've decided to change it up a bit to see how I like it- (diy ghetto black grips, but they work)
as far as the kickstand- Its there because I use it alot.

Fo' Sheezy. I just got done working on my Panel today as a matter of fact. Schools over so it's time to drive her around a bit more.

bosoxyacht, i see nothing wrong with your bike. i mean, its definitely kind of ugly, but it looks like it would be fun to ride.

If you think it's ugly in those photos, you should see it once I put on the rear rack and low-riders for the panniers. Its my grocery getter, so looks aren't really that important.
I thought someone would cap on the Thomson components, Nokon cables, or the Chris King headset I added later, costing nearly as much as the bike(I had all the components from other bikes I parted out).

yeah, its mostly just the decals. stem isn't that pretty either. but i meant it in an endearing way, like i said, it looks like a fun and useful ride. i want to build up a bike pretty much exactly like that when i get the money... singlespeed, semi-knobby tires, racks, panniers cause my commute is going to get longer.

I have to say, Nokon Cables on a motobecane is over the top. That's not a major sin, on the other hand running thos knobby tires on your grocery getter? Unless your nearest store is 8 miles of singletrack (wait, you don't live in alaska, do you?), then buy a pair of slicks. You spent how much on a headset, but too poor for decent tires?

My friends wanted me to go in with them on a set of Nokon cables that we'd split up. Too bad for them, since I got mine for free and don't need more.

The tires work well on the dirt trails I use on the 6 mile climb into town. The only parts I bought for it are the brake levers and the SPDs.
