Continental Sport 1000 (700x23's, quite cheap: AU$28 = US$18 each)
Don't know if you directed that towards me or not. Either way: 2nd hand threadless 1-1/8" from Human Powered in Brunswick/Melbourne. Cost almost nothing. Had to shine it up a bit though... (still not a perfect match - dang it)
I couldn't deal with the 46/16 I started with. Nice uphill, but useless downhill and almost useless on the flats. When I got rid of the freewheel stock SE sprocket and replaced it with a 13t I actually got the wrong one. I told the bike shop that helped me install it that the chain ring was 42 (oops). But I've got freaky legs. I grew up doing heavy things with my legs in my teens (snowboarding, breakdancing (omg), etc) so I quickly got used to it. Some days I flip the rear wheel to give the old 16t a go, but it just ****s me. It's amazing how adaptable the human body is. Now I'm a bike racing machine!

I got the frame not knowing anything about anything. It's got fender mounts on the fork and bottle holder holes as well! Can you explain why the saddle is wrong for drops? Feels real nice to me. If my saddle needs to sit that high for my size, maybe I need a bigger frame?
I'm waiting for new toe clips. I don't really need to be strapped in though. It's too hard (for me) to skid on a 93" gear.

B17s width and design is made for the saddle to be even with or pretty close to the bars. At least for me, the saddle was fine until it really started getting broken in, and then I started to get some numbness and such from the set-up I had before. More than a few people run B17s like that though, at least for a bit, so it totally might be fine. Seat post height is fine.
Also, learn to spin!

i'll play...
let me preface your brake bashing by saying that this is used as a road trainer, often in group rides and at distance. i won't risk the safety of others by riding brakeless, and the drops/lever hoods afford extra hand positions that are much appreciated as the hours go by. i have 4 centuries on this bike this year, but not a single skid or bar spin.

Wait, is that the Merckx that's not a Merckx? Because if that's the case, I don't like that.

Boost,
The saddlebag may be on the way out since I added wood fenders. Its off right now for a cleaning. I love my Paselas though, they are on every bike I own.
These are the fenders. No pics of them on the bike yet. The bag was the weak link, might look better once its clean. https://www.woodysfenders.com/store/i...products_id=42

The second bike isn't even a track frame.
They sure are orange though! Although yours was blue when you got it...
Well, that's proof enough for me, nice Merckx!

mine... critique away. surly cc, started out as a road / all terrain fixed gear... now its more of an all-rounder. moved to v's over the canti's so i swapped bars to on-one marys, added some comfy grips. still messing with stem length / position. the silver one is too long (14cm) the others i have are too short (10cm).

The two frames I posted highlighted the decal situation on Merckx Molteni bikes (track & road). Right now, the hate seems to stem from the fact that I was leaning towards putting Merckx decals on my frame, due to the fact it is of an unknown maker & that 653 tubing was basically created because of Merckx.
So people see the Campy record stripes & think I went ahead with the idea.

Well that makes more sense. I thought you were leaning more towards the "well then you like it because it's a real Merckx!" side of things.

Pissypaw, you are a stand-and-mash machine.
