Anyone tape thier risers?
 

Why do I not see this often? Is it because grips are way more comfy? If you have pics of taped risers could you post them up? Brainstorming my bike and choosing bars seems to be the hardest decision.

i have see it in some pictures, why wouldnt it make sense? its a handlebar

when I first tried risers out, I threw some tape on and it was actually really comfortable, but after a day of riding, the tape slid off. I didn't make much effort to prevent it (wrapping direction, bar plugs, etc.) but I could see it working if you wanted.

I'd recommend risers if you are still stumped on what to use. I used bullhorns, drops, pursuits, etc. and hated on risers until I actually tried some on my bike and now I love them. Would never ride anything else.

I believe I have seen it in one picture and there is a local guy that uses tennis tape on flats. Ignoring it being unethical why is it silly? People put grips/tape on tracks bars, tape on bullhorns, tape on drops, and only grips on risers. Why is it ok on every other type of bar? This is an honest question. Comfy grips are comfy, I can understand that, but I'm just wondering.

Thanks guys! I dig the look. I might try it out for a while. What risers would you guys recommend getting? My LBS has Ritcheys but they seemed kinda heavy. Of course it wouldn't be as bad if after I chopped them down.

I think it would look okay if you put aluminum caps on the ends of the bar and there was no electrical tape.

fizik tape on easton ea50 risers. i couldnt get my hands on champ grips, so i wrapped em.

My friend had taped flatbars for quite some time, worked fine. I did the same thing when I was trying out risers for a couple days. Glad I didn't spend any money on grips because I didn't like them.

Man, that bike rocks my socks off except for the leather bar tape. It always looks like someone wrapped their bars with foreskins.

I taped a set of flat bars before. I started at the bar ends taped to the stem and then back to the bar ends and plugged them. It was ok but it did not hold up for me very long.

I've been doing this for years on my MTB riser bars-much prefer it to regular grips(tuneable thickness, ease of install/removal, never turns to sticky jelly, never slips around-even after digging in the dirt during crashes). When I tell customers to try it, they look at me like I'm crazy and get regular grips- then I look at them like they're crazy. Oh-and one pack of tape is enough for at least two riser bars!
