something new.
Hey gang,
I know this isn't bike related, however I just finished my website. I would appreciate any comments/suggestions.
Thanks,
Greg

nice, clean. a few suggestions
1. i'm not sure the splash page is really necessary. unless you're planning on doing something really slick, i would leave it off for now
2. the text describing each sculpture isn't rendered too well. i'd play with different fonts or just write the descriptions in text rather than images
your sculptures themselves are fantastic

Very nice. I do agree with merztime, however, about the splash page. I'm a Linux/Unix developer, so a minimalist at heart. Especially when it comes to websites.
I love basic sites and yours fits that description quite nicely. I hate websites that have all kinds of stuff jumping off the page at me. I usually leave sites like that immediately. Basic sites are very easy to navigate and get the info that you're looking for quickly.
Good job!

Is that soapstone?
It's actually marble quarried in Tate, GA, I got to go to the quarry and pick the pieces myself, very cool. About 400 lbs. of "field stones" cost about $26.00. I packed a lunch and made a day of it.

I know... it defintely could use something. I am using Dreamweaver and the book is 600+ pages, I am actually surprised I got it that "sophisticated", my brother was very patient, I was calling him w/ all sorts of ?. Thanks for the input, keep checking back, I'll keep tweaking. The wood sculpture Untitled is going to be in an art exhibit in Houston in 3 weeks, I am pretty excited.

Well, as a web designer, let me suggest a few small things.
1. you do not have page descriptions. ie the "title" metatag has not been set.
2. you do not seem to need the leaderpage. I would only use that is you were going from html to PHP or something like that. In your case a waste of the user's time for no use.
3. my first impression was - what?? You do not have any text anywhere saying what the site is about. It comes up with some text (wood, stone, etc). What the hell is that?? If I did not know, it would mean nothing to me. And seeing you do not have metatags, it means even less.
A bit of text on the first screen saying that you are a sculptor, etc. What the site is for (fun, to sell stuff, whatever), who you are, etc.
4. more information on the items. are they stone? did you carve them? etc.
You should ask why a person would want to go to your site. You need to provide something. Information is probably a good thing to go with, so information on the items, how you buy the raw materials, how long they take to make, etc, etc.
5. no menus. how do you get back from the image pages??
6. as someone else mentioned - the text is pretty hard to read.
7. it is a standard rule - NEVER put up "under construction" signs. In the web design world, this is like putting a sidestand on a road bike - or wearing underwear with nicks. It just isn't done.

Hi - very nice work.
I agree with kneighbor and a few of the other posters. In addition to the missing title meta header, you also don't have any meta indexing done, which means it'll be tough for search enging spiders to index the site.
I'd also lose the splash page. The title you have there can easily be put into the main page. Anything that gets between the viewer and the meat should go, IMO.
Depending on what you've got the site setup for, personal interest, marketing etc. kneighbor a good point about conveying content. As far as a casual browser may know, this is could be a gallery site, an artist site, a collector or whatever.
The work you do has amazing visual impact. The web is a visual media, primarily, so use that to your advantage. For example a layout with the navigation as you have it using a small file size image map on the left (some people loathe image maps, but I think they'd fit the site) and, say, a picture of you working on a piece on the right would convey a lot of information.
Try looking at as many other sites as you can. Visit places like https://www.webdesignforums.net/ or Google 'web design forum' for places to chat to others for ideas. Many of these forums have 'critique my site' threads which would be very helpful. For more technical info, you can visit places like www.evolt.org or www.codingforums.com.
Keep at it, the world should see your work...
