BMX freewheels?

I've got a mid 80s Panasonic Sport 1000. I want to convert to SS. Freewheel out back, not a cassette. I can just use a thread on BMX freewheel, yes?

If this is the case, anyone have one cheap/free?

Yes, you should be able to just thread one on. The chainline might need adjusting, depending on your particular setup.

Freewheels are one of the cheapest components in existence, you can get new dicta or acs freewheels for under $10.

Shimano freewheels are better, but come in a limited number of sizes. If you wanna go cheap, go with a Dicta. I have 3 Dicta freewheels and they all work fine. I've been using one to ride offroad for 4 years and its still going strong though the teeth are starting to show wear.

I also have 2 ACS freewheels, and neither are very smooth or round..resulting in inconstant chain tension.
