Help with Thomson stems on Ebay
Specifically this seller:
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZap_bicycles They're selling Thomson stems, the one with 26.0 handlebar clamps. (EG: 0deg/70mm/26.0clamp or 5deg/120mm/26.0clamp The only thing is some of the ones that are listed don't match up to the specs listed on the Thomson site here: http://www.lhthomson.com/elite_stem_sizes.asp They claim that they have new old stock but I don't trust it as I haven't been able to find other places selling those stems. Can anyone help me on this? I also have a feeling that all their listings are for 25.4 handlebar diameter. |
So what if it's actually 26?
I'm looking for a 26 clamp with those degrees and rises but thomson site says that they don't actually make them...
Sorry, meant to say 25.4. Are you using carbon bars or does the extraordinarily small offset really bother you that much?
Plus those are actually pretty ho-hum prices for Thomson stems. |
maybe the ones listed are discontinued?
Ill be using syntace stratos bars but yes the .6 difference bothers me, since that's not the size they were made for..
they said it's discontinued in an email to them, but i couldn't find anything on it when looking |
old thomson road elites were 26.0. those have been discontinued. they still make 25.4 mtb stems in 0 and 5 degree +/- as far as i know.
I'm using a Thomson Elite mtb stem, 25.4 clamp with Stratos bars and it works juuuuust fine.
yea they discontinues the 26.0 but some distributors still have some in stock. my lbs got one for me from BTI it comes in tomorrow i am pumped
At my LBS on Friday I scored a silver 26.0 clamp thompson elite 90mm long, neg 10 degree drop w/ the "Thompson" spelled right-side-up when the stem is postioned pointing downward. It took me a long time to find that. i think it's a couple year old NOS.

I'm looking for that except in 5 degree rise, in black.
5 degree is everywhere on ebay (but maybe not 26.0?). ^mine is a 90mm length if you want it that short. 5 degree rise will be sticking up in the air, but maybe thats what you want.
