word -- that sorta goes back to uke's statement earlier (which is currently in my signature) -- just get out there and ride, steel or not.

My bike is my dedicated winter bike all winter long.

Not the most ideal winter bike, but it's suitable enough for me. It's more of my rain/snow bike. Knobby tires, lower gear ratio, smaller frame, and I usually ride it with an SKS Fender.

My rain bike becomes my winter/ice bike. Lower the gearing to 42/18, studded tires and I flip the moustache bars for a more upright position. I ride my other fixed gear when it is dry or slushy pavement. My only winterizing is to put on skinny slicks and swap the drops for risers.

Doubles as a beer-case fetcher with the CETMA 5-rail rack. I thought about fixing it but White Industries ENO hubs are expensive. Because I'm in the city, I'm don't have a car so I bike everywhere in the rain or snow.

Vittoria XN Cross file-tread tires and Planet X fenders.

That thing is a loaded weapon. Me like. It's almost as if you have one of these setups you feel guilty driving.

Min that bike is amazing.
If looks like you need to carry concealed weapons while riding it.
It's like a mafia hit bike.

And I love those Vittoria tires...I was considering a set when they were on sale at PerformanceBike.

ive just moved across country and where i ride now is alot sketchier than my old place. until this year i havnt had a winter bike but im glad i do now. the state my winter bike is in makes me happy i didnt take my lovely colnago out.

my winter bike is an old SS MTB with road tires though and is alot slower than what im used to. im gonna try and put togather a strong road bike with some good tires.
