Help, powder coat got scratched today at school
Just got my Nishiki powdered a bluish green color, very similar to Bianchi Green but a little more blue in it. Needless to say, it is a beautiful bike. I locked it to a metal beam, stupidly, not thinking it could scratch that easily and sure enough, someone either bumped into it or something because the bike rotated like 40 degrees in its place to the front of the beams and there is a pretty large 3 or 4 inch scratch more on the top tube, nearer the seat. What should I do to cover up or protect? Wrap top tube with handlebar tape, get touch up paint? Help a bummed out dude.

Reload pads all over it
Most people here will say "don't lockup if you don't want scratches" |
Actually...learn to lock up in a way that it doesnt get scratched. Its not that hard.

alright thanks. what about using Bontrager handle bar wrap to cover the tt?
|
Stop caring. Worked for me.
|
Yeah, it's going to happen if you lock it up. I got my frame powdercoated and it seemed indestructible until last week I threw a chain for the first time in forever, and managed to take a chunk of material off the BB shell. Put some scratch guard on it, and maybe try to find some matching paint at an auto store if you want to be anal.

that is the best advice, just don't take it as far as i did.
|
Well I do appreciate all of the advice about not caring but I simply can not do that. I am the most anal person about my things, especially when I dump hundreds or dollars into them and they are perfect and then get ruined because someone tried to lift it. Could anyone post pics of any TT protection that they came up with? Handlebar wrap, etc? I would like some pics and more advice. I think I will try to touch it up and then do something to better protect it.

Well I like nice things, cars, bikes, clothes, golf clubs, etc. I am going to get a beater but I currently have no bankroll hence the hundreds of pesos that I dropped into my Nishiki. Could anyone just show me some pictures or give advice as o how to protect the TT aside from those gay BMX things people put on the Pistas?

Why dump 100's of pesos into something your going to leave outside somewhere? and then have the brass cohones to complain when it gets scratched!? Doesnt make any goddamned sense? Get a beater! Problem solved! :thumb:
I stopped caring about a week after i got it. wrapped the top tube near the headtube with white electrical tape, same with the downtube. |
Sell one of your cars, bikes, clothes, or golf clubs and buy a goddamned beater! :twitchy:

Stop caring. or
Stop riding. or Stop locking. or Stop whining. or Stop taking your fancy bike places where a**holes will try to steal it. and/or Get a beater for around town. |
Well I can tell you that I am going to stop locking as much as I can, but I am not going to stop riding my bike..it was meant to be ridden, not a trailer queen. I feel like I can still keep a nice paint job and a nice bike but still ride it a lot. IDK I am just going to get a u lock and either touch it up and or get a tt wrap or something
|
What did you lock up with that isnt a u lock that scratched it
|
get a top tube pad dude. http://www.biciconcepts.com/gallery.html
