This my total dream bike but when comparing to other bikes the pricing seems a bit high? I noticed the powder coating went from $80 to $99 as well. I really don't know how much it is to powdercoat a bike so I can't tell.

powdercoating pretty much anywhere runs about $90-$180 on average, depending on the powder you request, the detailing, and if you request a clearcoat/candy/metallic. there are lower end powdercoaters that will likely leave bubbles or cracks in the finish and then there the higher end like spectrum which do incredible work but cost upwards of $200+

Yes indeed. That is all I need really, perfect frame, no braze- ons, no holes for brakes. Just a clean frame. I think they make a beautiful bike. And to top it off you get a nice threaded stem! I can't stand the look of a threadless stem on a fixed bike, it looks silly, silly i tell ya! frank rizzo!

Good call. I get all ****ed up at night worrying that the moment I fall asleep some old derailers and brakes are gonna jump on all the mounting points of my conversion winter bike and attach themselves permanently. I haven't slept in a ****ing week :(

You need more whiskey in your diet.

i took my conversion to the shop the other day and out of nowhere a shimano 105 group tried to mount my bike. i had to beat it off with a floor pump.

hmm, i wish mine had waterbottle mounts. if i can find an old 120 spaced 5/6 speed hub its going to get a rear brake and be used for racing crits in the spring. also i hope youre committed to the no brakes thing cuz the material they take off the crown to accomadate wider tires seems to make bike shops fearfully of drilling it(i ordered mine undrilled to save shipping time, bad move).

To the fearful who have nightmares about your bike, yeah you definitely need more whiskey. I have 4 other bikes that do have brakes and are all ready for the winter so do not fear. I just want a nice clean frame which is somewhat track dimensioned and yes without brakes. There is absolutely no need for brakes to be on a fixed bike.

Tell that to my fixed mountain bike.

Uh, ok. :rolleyes: Maybe on a Track, but not streets. It's also the LAW in most states.

Please don't tell me skidding will and is a proper way to stop in an emergency.:bang:

screw THE LAW. you dont need brakes on any bike. riding sure is a lot more fun with em though. but lets not beat a dead horse, so long as you dont hurt anyone i could care less.

Riding without brakes is one thing, I could care less what you do with your bike (just don't run into me)

But saying there is absolutely no need for brakes on a fixed gear is extremely stupid.

"Hey, there's a red light ahead of me. I could keep riding, and apply my front brake at the last second and easily stop in time.... Ooooor, I could initiate a SKID from twenty feet away to shave off some speed. And if things get hairy I can pull some erratic maneuver into lanes that cars are travelling in. Sounds good to me."

There is this great maneuver called applying back pressure. I can see the light maybe 60 yards away and make adjustments or the fun part is timing the light. But time to move on, I don't like the smell of a dead horse.

It's like a competition here, everyone who has a brake but somehow feels inferior about it needs to immediately step in and condemn other people's choices.

funny thing is that was my intention in my first post. just relating some info about the frame/fork.

anyway, the brakeless fixed riders just feel inferior to the brakeless singlespeeders...(couldnt resist)
