Crank me (I know)
I need help selecting a part:
Skip this part if you dont care about backstory.
I'm building up my first actual track frame, I've been riding fixed for about a year, and am ready for a real track/fixed frame. I have my entire parts list, with the exception of cranks.
Here's my parts list, I'm looking for a 165-167mm silver track crankset for around 150 (including chainring (48t))
mercier kilo tt blue
velocity silver NMSW laced to formulas (will replace with miche hubs after build is complete)
nitto jag stem to nitto b123s
selle rolls saddle to silver seatpost
Those are the big parts, now I want a crankset to match it, I was gonna go with Miche track cranks, but I was afraid they look too modern and will mess up the theme.
Important Part:
I need a silver (NOT SHINY/MIRROR FINISH) 165-167.2mm track crankset with 48t chainring.
Looking to spend around 150. I found a few, but do not like the sugino RD its too shiny.)
i want it to go with this style of bike.
Maybe 165 will be too short, I'll be riding the 57cm Mercier frame on the street, and want to eliminate pedal strike as much as I can.
THANKS.
Also, IF anyone has silver seatpost recommendations, love to hear them.
2nd part
On sizing.
I'm 5'11, 165 pounds. My inseam is 31 inches and my arms are in proportion to me body, about 26 inches long.
should I go with the 55cm kilo or the 57? I was never questioning it but I saw soemone saying the 57 felt like a 60, which it too big for me.

Buy the shiny stuff and scuff it up with a scotchbrite pad...if you use one of those you can polish it up later if you need to.

It's serious; I believe different colors have different "grits." Buy one. dull the surface, and you can always polish it up with metal polish if you decide you don't like it.

It will make it look brushed. You can get a very fine scotchbrite pad and just go at it one way. It may not be the look you are going for, but it is an idea if you can't find anything else.

57 is def. out of the question. I am 6'1 with 33.5 true inseam and the 57 was too big. you should be debating between 53 and 55

The pic in the OP's thread ... that frame, is it lavender color or is that just a trick of the eye?
If it is lavender, where did you have the paint job done?
A friend of mine wants a bike in exactly that color and I don't know what to tell her other than maybe find a powder coater ... would be easier just to tell her where you got that frame, unless it is also custom-painted.
I am 5'10" and ride a 57cm. Not everyone likes a foot of seatpost sticking out of their frame.

I'm in BK and have a 57. I'm 6 ft no shoes with a 34 and change inseam measured with book pressed into pelvic bone. I'd be just fine on a 55, if not better off, but I got a good deal on the 57. The reach felt excessive, so I switched out to a more angled 90 mm stem (stock is 120), and shifted the seat up a bit. Part of that feel was also due to the fact that I came from a bike that had me bolt upright, with 0 weight on my hands and my spine almost dead straight. My muscles are adapting to this position, and I must say I much prefer it now.
You should definitely go with a 53 or 55.

Dam, I cant decide if i'd rather if feel a bit big, or a big small, ugh.
BTW, this is ludacris(lol), since when do 6 foot tall people order 55cm bikes? why are these sizes so off?
I think I'll go with a 55, i dont want to deal with toe overlap that much, and I'd rather have a bigger frame then look like a squished up tool.
someone agree with me so i feel good?

i'm 5'11" 32.5" inseam and i ride a 53 kilo. you're probably gonna be better off with a 53, maybe a 55. the kilo measures c-c so add 2-3cm to get c-t equivalent.

I'm 5'11" 1/2 and have a 32" inseam and ride a 53cm kilo. It's perfect, just get the 53. I came of a slightly larger conversion, and the kilo is a much better fit.
For cranks, I've heard the various andel (alien, IRO, soma, Kazane, ones at Bens) cranks are ok.
