Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I'm waiting for the day I find a chrome lugged Paramount in the trash heap or Goodwill store. The guy that owns one of the better shops here in town was showing me his and it was awful purty.

I'm waiting for the day I find the freakin bastard who stole my Schwinn Varsity. Granted the fact that it was some 25 years ago. And a 1000 miles away.

But vengance shall be mine !!

PS: It was an early 70's blue 10 speed, downtube shifters and centerpull brakes. With Brooks saddle and white bar tape. And a leather seat bag. Last seen on my front porch.

Sure, that should stick out like a sore thumb!

The frame in the auction is basically a overgrown BMX bike. I wouldn't mind having it. But early BMX stuff from the 70s and early 80s seems to have a strange air of collectability, especially these early cruisers. I'll bet it fetches a nice price.

Where's your front porch and do you keep any other fine bicycles unlocked there?
