Hi guys.
Do you think a 20" wheels fixed bike is possible? The pedals would hit the ground at turns? Thanks. |

If you have/need 20" wheels you need short crank arms too. Right?

Only if the BB is lower than usual. BMX bikes usually have pretty good clearance in that dept. Old Schwinn Stingray frames don't.

Thank you for your answers.
I am new to the fixed gear thing, and think its very interesting. In my country, i never saw one fixed.(only a 14" whem i was kid, but i dont remember the feeling). There are some customized 20" SS bikes minimalistic only with coaster brakes, high seat posts and bars for a relaxed riding position, they call "nuvem" (cloud). If i could make something like with Fixed Gear, it would be pretty unique, and people would go nuts, ever more if they see a Trackstand. I tried to though about, and my only concern was about inclining at turns and dont be able to control pedal position, or passing over bumps. |
Absolutely,
There are 3 of them in the group I ride with; two Raleigh folding 20's and a Moulton in process. Here is my friend Bill's fixie from the fixed gear gallery. I've ridden it around the parking lot a few times and it is a blast to ride. fixie pic http://http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/milam2.jpg |
