Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? nope. i try not to use sarcasm on the internet. it makes it hard for people to understand what you mean. i totally agree with what you said then, and now.

i state again, the slo mo part with the alternating one footed skids was cool.

I was at the SF premier. The film was beutiful, and the soundtrack was epic in every way. I enjoyed the movie, and i'm sure a bunch of people talking sh*t are just bitter because they probably haven't even seen it. You don't even have to like fixed gears to enjoy watching this video imho.

Whoa, hey guys! Strange seeing you around here!

The premiere out here was paired with a little pre-movie race, and that was ten bucks, but that was to pay for prizes and spoke cards. If you wanted to check out the movie without racing, it was free. I missed it, but I really wish I hadn't. I heard it was amazing and look forward to it. I heard people say that it was better than MASH (not saying much) but not quite as good as Bootleg Sessions II.

So nothing came out of their pockets for this one.

I only saw the 5 min preview thing on youtube and I thought it looked liek it would be a fairly impressive video, had a more artistic approach it seemed, I liked the song they used. Still haven't seen mashed either.. but hey unless any of these videos are under $10 bucks I cant imagine I would buy any of them and can't imagine why anyone else would.

After awaking from a long winter hibernation, I was hoping this movie finally got released but heard it's not out yet. Anyone have any info on the release date?

You know most of those type of shots are filmed while riding something like a Vespa?

Saw the sf premier, It was pretty epic. I really enjoyed the soundtrack. I would rather watched videos liek MASH/Macaframa then watch videos where people ride track bikes/fixed gears like a BMX.

"But, it has all come down to a final last push by Arlen and Elrick which has resulted in almost two consecutive weeks with no sleep and constant frustrations. The work won't be for not though, expect the dvd to have over four hours of bonus footage as well as hidden, short films strategically placed to make them hard to find (but well worth looking for). This along with a Criterion Collection inspired dvd case with an eye-catching layout and short booklet with information on team riders and photographs should make this dvd desirable whether one rides track bikes or not."

I'm pretty sure the only way to have seen it is to have gone to a premier... They had them all over the country.

im just not impressed by anything i see in these videos. the tricks are completely lame compared to bmx or trials, and they just dont ride that fast. great your going down hill, so ****ing what, i go down hundreads of hills a week, but i have dropbars and 53x12 gearing to really go fast on my roadbike.

its not even as if theyre riding in great enviroments, its just boring cityscape. which i think is the least interesting place to ride a bike. what fun can you have riding on a grid system?!

the cinemotrapghy is so-so. its not awful but they dont do anything that exciting. they dont make much effort to capture the atmosphere of the enviroment, and how about some onboard video. i hope they have a section based around racing, somthing thats actually interesting to watch.

i think the problem with these videos is that its based around filming a bunch of riding buddies riding. which is only interesting if you want to absorb somthing of theyre style or know them personally.

it also annoys me that you never see anyone suffering in these videos. its great going down hills fast, but we all know that part of riding is exhausting yourself, but loving the thrill of the ride and forcing yourself to continue and push yourself harder. this is the reality of bike riding and the true thrill.

was thinking the same thing.. It's a really well done video. I think they captured the tricks on film, in a way that makes it look appealing whether you think the tricks are boring or not.

i hate this attitude that you cant be a road rider and like fixed gears as well. its even sadder when fixed riders never ride geared bikes.

mash sucked becuase it was a bunch of friends video each other doing boring riding along monotonous city streets, and tricks even the 12 year old bmx'ers would laugh at. there is quite alot of skill involved in doing tricks on a 700c bike, but who cares they were still lame.

I don't care what it is, but watching someone ride their bike on video, is extremely boring. My minutes are more useful than sitting down to watch fixed gear riders.

youre right. lurking bikeforums and posting things like this are much more productive! I dare anyone to watch that Danny MacAskill video and not be completely amazed. I agree w/ zac, that is the most impressive thing I've ever seen done on 2 wheels.
