Need some info on Campagnolo Ventos

I'm seriously considering these wheels. What I'm confused about is that all the ones I find for sale look like this:

But what I'm looking for is this:

Are these just an earlier version of the wheel?

Yes, those deep-profile rims are an earlier version of the Vento. The modern ones use Campagnolo's G3 lacing (makes sense for the rear; form over function on the front).

wow, those are nice. Wonder if there's be a black version... I'll try to help search the web for man.

Cool...thanks. I think I'm settled in on these. They seem like a good alternative to velocity within the same price range. If anyone has any review on them post up!

They are available in black or silver.

Campagnolo Ventos, however, are not track wheels. They are road wheels. As such they have a good reputation (like all of Campy's pre-built wheel linup) - good bearings, strong lacing. Durable. They make good all-purpose road wheels.

Right, the Pista Concept pictured is owned by someone on here and they said that they had a hub custom drilled so they could use the rims.

if you're going to buy expensive wheels that aren't produced any more, and plan to relace the rear to a different hub, for ****s sake buy something in better condition. ventos, shamals, and similar come up for sale every now and again, and often sell high. might as well get your money's worth.

anything with the G3 lacing probably won't work. you may be able to lace them to a hub with a 36h drilling, using all 18 DS holes and 9 on the NDS. the spokes wouldn't necessarily be parallel, or properly positioned.

um,is there any side effects when the spokes arent laced parallely?
