What age did everyone here start riding fixed/SS?

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

What age did everyone here start riding fixed/SS?

Started around 4 months ago, at 22. I rode a lot of other types when I was a kid, BMX and geared MTN, but hadn't really ridden much for the past few years. Fixed got me back into it.

^^^ I started at 16, 17 now. I saw geeknerd's bike, thought the whole fixed concept was cool, so then I built one up. Haven't looked back, riding fixed has been great.

...it's Jonathan, btw.

Post pics of your conversion. The Classic and Vintage forum would appreciate it, too.

I started riding fixed in August, I'm 20. I actually didn't ride a bike regulary before then since middle school. My friends are all bike nerds mainly mountain and DH. They all have fixed gears too. My friend brought two bikes for us to ride when we visited Montreal, a SS mountain and his fixed Bottecia conversion. I kept asking to ride the fixed and I fell in love with riding it, so I bought my own. I've been riding for only a few months and I've become OBSESSED with it, for fitness for fun. Cycling was really the hobby I've been waiting for my whole life, nothing is more satisfying.
