I think it might be to big for me...

I finally put some wheels on the Nishiki frame I got a while ago. The frame is 61cm, and I'm only 6'2". The seat height in the photo is perfect for me. But I don't really have any stand-over clearance on the top tube, maybe a inch or two. I just need to decide if I want to build it up or just get a new frame or complete bike.

Let me understand this correctly ... you said you have an inch or two of stand over clearance? That is enough clearance.

+1. Also, today's majority opinion is that the reach created by the top tube and stem is more important than the seat tube length and stand-over height in determining the correct size.

looks and sounds like it's perfect. I'm 6'2" and I ride a 62. Fits great. Don't worry about seat height.

im 6' and i ride a 53. but im a ****in pimp ass mutha ****in G fo real

I'm 6'1" riding a 56. Based on the saddle height and your description of the standover, it seems fine to me. If you feel good about the top tube length, then I'd say go for it.

That looks a bit bigger than 61cm but, regardless, the fit looks okay to me. I am a hair over 6 feet and ride a 60cm frame. Here is how it looks. For the way I ride, I am best on a 59cm frame.

^ that bike > my pants

Love the fork on that thing. And i'm 6'1 riding 58cm frame with no problems, saddle to bar drop is a bit high but i've come to like it.

Don't worry about stand over height when fitting a bike...... unless that's all you are going to do with it.

You have a fist-full of seat post there. The bike looks in proportion. It should be fine for your hieght... unless you are a giant Oumpa-Loumpa.

darksiderising 01-12-09 04:12 PM

Body proportions, please. I am guessing that you have long legs and a short torso based on the body height and standover values listed. If this is the case, you're going to be stretched out with that stem and bar combination. There are many short-reach drop bars available that will help a lot.

I like the fact that in the steps of building, you installed a spoke card before you installed a chainring or chain. haha.

But seriously, I personally like my fixed to be a little bit smaller than a roadie, and I ride a road bike that's about the size you described. It felt huge at first but you get very comfortable on it.

Your clearance is fine. This is not a mountain bike.
