Can't answer question without info about the frame and what is on it. What's the threading of the bottom bracket? What's the thickness of the extant bottom bracket cup wall-- thin or thick?

you're probably going to have better luck just getting a cartridge bb in 103 rather than finding a 103 spindle. a lot less hassle as well...

+1 http://www.universalcycles.com has a Sugino 103mm sealed bb and http://www.bikepartsusa.com has a Token 102mm sealed bb. They're both around 40.00+ shipping. The shortest spindle I found was a 109mm Sugino for 54.00+ ship on UVCYLE. Found some on BPUSA, but they were Pyramids...not exactly quality parts, though I DO use the Pyramid metal tire levers.

If you're looking at price NOT being an object you may want to investigate White Industries. Their stuff is REAL good and REAL pricey. Like Phil or Paul stuff.

http://www.harriscyclery.com always seems to have oddball stuff, but one pays a premium in purchasing from them, too.

Having done a number of conversions to 1x7,8 or 9 and a couple of singlespeeds over the years the Sugino 103mm is the best in terms of money as long as the threading matches. Haven't used the Token, so I can't speak of it's quality, but the Sugino is consistant. For cranks I use Bulletproof as they're as good as any square-tapered on the market. And I use Rocket Ring chainrings as they're not ramped and are cut for either 110 or 130mm bolt patterns.

Good luck. Hope this info has been helpful.

Don't the metal tire levers scratch your rims?
