Whipskid effects on tires
Has anyone noticed the sidewalls of their tires cracking or becoming prematurely worn by whipskidding alot (the skids they do in Macaframa, etc.)? Because of the way the whipskid is done, I just wonder if it is dangerous for a tire with weaker sidewalls.

I've been messing around with this... i'm pretty positive it's a bad idea... i'm noticing way more wear on the tire and the wheel is coming out of true quicker.
it's a pretty quick way to slow though... |
I used to do it a lot when I was into MTB. On the trail I never noticed any abnormal wear on my tires, but I supposed it could be a different story on pavement.

i'd think that if you were skidding your rear wheel out far enough to rub the sidewall you'd fall on your ass.
I do these alot and they seem to just wear down the tread more to one side, depending if you skid to one side or both sides I guess you could wear your tread out really unevenly and have a lopsided tire. |
