Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Simply put, I did a total tear down today of the bike down to the bare frame and washed each and every single part. Surprisingly it did not take as much time to disassemble than I had anticipated.

Wheels, chain w/release pin, crank, bb, seat, stem and bars, and the frame is bare.

Just tore apart my cross (winter) bike to clean everything off. Fixed riders have it easy for cleaning, so there's just no excuse. With a full cassette, derailleur, FH body, and cables it takes a good hour to clean and re-lube. This kind of maintenance gets done every week or two.

Go to a hardware store and buy a can of anti-corrosion spray. Use it on your bike.
