Top Tube Protector
Wondering what you use to protect your top tube from scratches (handlebars, brake levers etc). Saw a some type of 'cuff' at Milwaukee Bike for a cool $40 and said no way. Right now I have some bar tape but it looks like ass. Any suggestions?

just don't want to spend $$ on a cloth covered piece of foam |
what's the point of protecting the tube, if it's going to be hidden from sight anyway?

Belt. This one is wrapped at the ends with self amalgamating tape. you can also use electrical tape.

I wrapped a piece of MTB inner tube around my top tube and covered that with some left over cloth bar wrap. Does the job and look decent I think.

Non-sticky self fusing tape. Stretch wrap it over something and it will fuse together like a solid piece of rubber.
I think I've revealed too much about myself... |

Also sold as bondage tape. Sticks to itself, but not skin.

a couple of loops of an old tube finished off with electrical tape works just fine. I had that on my Vivalo it's both discreet and does the job. I actually had more than one person ask me where I got the supposedly 'custom' toptube guard.

Foam pipe insulation and electrical tape. The insulation costs about $1.45 for a yard, and it's fairly safe to assume that you have some sort of tape that would work to keep it on.

Yup. One of it's marketed purposes is to serve as a tool grip.
I really dont like electrical tape and would like to try this... |
