can someone give me a brief lesson on how to tell measurements for my threadless fork
(got it used)

same as a threaded fork.
what part? you measure steer tube from crown to end.

The diameter of the steerer tube is either 1" or 1-1/8". Steerer tube length is from the crown race to the end of the tube. Axel to crown is measured from the dropout to the crown race.
