Specialized Langster size question
 

*My bad if this post is redundant or I did not search better.

Found a really good deal on a new Langster Seattle but the size is only a 56 and I was told I am closer to a 54. When i stand over the bike there is about an inch of "crotch space" above the saddle when the saddle is at its lowest position. Ive tried measuring my inseam and according to my measurements i'm about a 55. But after going to several bike stores ive been told i am between a 53 and 56 at the most.

I'm sure after a few miles riding the bike i'll know better how it feels but unfortunately i do not have the opportunity to do that.

Is the size of the frame relative to my inseam that crucial or will it be ok if i ride with the saddle at the lowest position?


Also on a side note, i was looking at the origin 8 uno and that only comes in a 53 or 56... nothing in between... from the factory, so I would be in the same situation with that bike.

The 56 Langster Comp (cant speak for the standard Langster) fits like a 54 Steamroller or 55 Bianchi Pista. Sloping top tube makes for plenty of top tube clearance but its plenty on the virtual tt length.

Thanks. I just wanted to let u know I bought the bike shortly after my original post. Replaced the handlebars with bullhorns and took off the rear brake. Two years and about 3,000 miles later - I'm loving the bike. I ride it all the time. Just had to have the ball bearings replaced/cleaned/greased up. Other than that, haven't had any problems. I've put about 3,000 miles on it.

Thanks - I ended up getting the Langster and am really happy with it. (I replaced the handlebars with bullhorns). Btw, after some time and many miles, I've come to realize that because of my long arms I am probably going to replace the stem to increase the reach. Just came back to the forum and wanted to follow up with your post since it is relevant. Thanks again.
