Boot!

I created a boot, masterfully, out of tinfoil and packing tape tonight. I'll let you guys know how this all comes together. Maybe we could make a "Craziest sh*t from which I've made a boot" thread. If I never come back to post again, I think it's safe to say my tinfoil boot failed in a spectacular way. The explosion rattled windows for miles around...

what the...?

You misspelled "I took drugs."

It's the consonants that generally get folks - and the 15 syllables.

I don't get it.

I bought a bike off CL and when I went to change the tube I found a boot made out of a $1 bill.

I get mad discounts!!!

Why tinfoil? It is pretty much the weakest material you could possibly use.

And packaging tape isn't too strong either, you can poke through it with anything remotely sharp.

at first glance i thought this was about booties made from tinfoil and tape

I didn't have any cash. I folded the tinfoil over a couple of times, and the puncture in the tire is extremely small (maybe 1/4" long). I'm going to go for a ride today and see how it holds up. Also I'm going to go by the ATM in case it doesn't.

As for the rest of the posts, the jokes I make when I'm drunk never seem quite as funny the next day. Rest assured, though, if you guys had been as drunk when you read the post as I was when I wrote it, you would've had a good chuckle. Maybe.

So the tinfoil is covered with packing tape? That ought to be ok as a temporary measure. I'd be wary of any exposed tinfoil wearing a hole in the tube. Probably, lots of layers of packing tape would be less complicated and safer. It's still a bit abrasive though. Cloth tape layers would be safer, or even layered duct tape. I've made electrical tape boots and they don't really work because even with lots of layers the tape is still too elastic.

Heavy cloth like denim or canvas makes tough but soft boots. Maybe fold it once or twice.

I wish I would've thought of using cloth last night. That probably would have worked really well. Thanks for the suggestion.

I definitely thought that this was about footwear.
Now I understand.
