i dont know what frame to get, i have about 300-350 to spend on the frame, thats not including shipping! i've looked at so many different frames, leaders, pake, soma, kilo, steamroler, maxway, even some vintage ussr track frames lol. could you guys recommend me some frames to check out?
|
What do you like? Specific geometry? Specific features? Threadless, threaded? 1, 1 1/8"?
|
threaded, 1", tighter geo! I'm heading over to a local track/fixed shop in a little. i hear they're really good but i called them and the dude seemed like an a-hole. we'll see what goes down.

soma rush meets all three of your wishes.
good frames a little out of your sweet spot cost-wise, but budgets are made to be broken. |
i wanna build a bike for my girlfriend, she's 5'1" n a half with a 28 inseam with shoes on. her fixed bike is going to be something from bikesdirect mostly. assuming she has an average build, do you think the 43cm would be a perfect fit?
edit: i also want to keep this a secret so getting her fitted at a lbs is out of the question, as dumb and risky as that is. |
So heres my deal: I have the chance to buy 1 of these bikes brand new for half off!! (My brother works at a bike shop). Which should I get
2011 Schwinn Madison ($300) http://****************/wp-content/u...on-fixie-1.jpg OR... 2011 Masi Special Fixed (Drop) ($370) http://****************/wp-content/u...fixed-gear.jpg I like both and I want your honest opinions. I like the masi a bit more, but am not a fan of the gold wheels. I think the paint on the madison is badass! Which would you choose? |
If I had to pick, I would go with the Masi.
|
+1 Masi. Go in and check both out if you can.

Super newb here, I just got my bike 3 weeks ago and I noticed the chain starting to sag a little and I wanted to just adjust it buy moving the rear wheel back just a tad. What are the things I should watch out for mainly when doing this (trueing, ect, IDK)?

Your chain should be sagging a bit. If it's tight you're just unnecessarily wearing your drivetrain. That being said, all you have to do is loosen the nuts on your rear wheel and move it, and tighten the nuts again, making sure your wheel is straight. It's not very complicated.

Hi everyone.
I posted in the Road Bicycles forum concerning a similar but more vague question: I am looking to purchase my first single-speed bike. Lately, I have been looking at this model: http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/..._al_carb_x.htm I am buying online, so I assume I will need to put the bike together. Are there any very simple unable to mess up guides to putting together a bike that you can direct me to? Also, looking at the bike I have posted, are there any parts on it that look cheap/shoddy to you enough so that you suggest I replace them with another? If so, what do you recommend? I am mostly looking for a ss to ride during college GOD-Willing next spring 2012 semester. I might be moving to Houston, and so I've read that I should look into fenders for rain, so again, if you have any recommendations, please let me know. Also, I was a bit confused as to sizing on the website. I am a 17yo female, 5'5.5" 125lbs with a 31.5" inseam. At first, when I looked online from other sources, it seemed that my bike "size" was 53cm. The size guide from the website: http://windsorbicycles.com/aluminum.htm I am confused as to which column the 53cm would refer to and what it means in relation to the standover height. Please help if you can. Thanks and GOD Bless. |
Posting in a sticky...aren't you glad you decided to read to page 6?

I just thought I would share a couple of photos I took. I realized the other day that I have a GXP, Square taper, and splined bottom bracket and I thought I'd just snap a few photos of them for anyone who'd be interested...

Are there any other bikes in the same price range of the kilo TT that are comparable? or is the kilo TT the best amount of value for money?

Hi Guys,
I'm starting to plan out the parts for a build I want to do (my first actual build), and I'm currently looking at cranks. I'm looking at Sugino RD2 Messengers pretty closely, and was wondering if they are actually any good. It doesn't seem like too many people here ride them, and they are aluminium, so I wanted to check before dropping $150 big ones to get a pair shipped. Cheers |
How often does bikes direct get in new bikes?
edit: another question, what would it cost to have a bike shop spoke a set of rims and hubs together? |
Hey guys, so ive been looking for a bike for around a year or so and I think ive finally narrowed it down to road bike. Im really interested in fixed gears but its kinda hard to get good advice or input on them. I noticed that people either hate them or love them and theirs really no in between. The only thing Im concerned about is hills on a fixed gear or not being able to stop when I need to. After some research I came across the Felt Brougham 3 Speed with the Sturmey Archer SX3 3 speed fixed gear hub. Everything I read about this bike says the 3 speed hub makes hills more manageable both up and down. So I guess my question is what do you guys think of this bike and is it worth $700? Also Im interested if you guys have any recommendations in the $500-$700 price range. It doesn't have to be a fixed gear
