put some gears on it .

Winners were 80s entry level 10-speeds with steel wheels and low-end drivetrains, but decent frames. Fixed conversion seems to be the way to go from where I'm standing.

ive got a silver winner, used to be my dads bike. i like it a lot but dont ride it much as it doesnt fit me super well and doesnt track straight anymore.

out of curiousity it looks like youve still got the tubing sticker on the seat tube, what does it say?

I like the chainring and skull-and-crossbones valve cap.

54/16

I have a 54/20 now but it is still pretty beefy and deserving of the s&cb dust cap.

Thats interesting, so far its the only other winner I have heard of. The frame is great, a tad bit too big but strong. The steer tube has bent on me and I think it has done it again to the point of locking the headtube up on turns.... New fork?

well on my way to a fixie unless I come across an even better free frame in the mean time

my frame has been a tank, the fork bent twice on me so it was replaced (the second time one side of the crown actually bent). thats probably a big part of why the handling sucks on my winner now, as i think the rake is not right on the new fork.

they were definitly cheap bike boom bikes with steel rims and stem shifters and cottered cranks, but the frame would be sweet as a ss/fg or even as a touring bike.

touring, really? It has a place for a rack to attatch but what about fenders?

buggg 02-18-09 04:33 PM

you could definitly put fenders on it, ive never really thought of fenders as a nessecity for touring, but it has fender mounts, mine does atleast.
