Awesom Bike Video
Hate to say it and I might be wrong but some of that video looked like it was digitlly enhanced - that guy violates every rule in the book......I've seen plenty like him in Manhattan and they flirt with death every day......gotta admire their balls but those Pakistani cab drivers that were driving in Kabul a month ago and bought their drivers license via the "back door" will crunch U like a bug.
|
Kabul isn't in Pakistan
|
oh, it's easy to ride like him, just become a bike messenger in new york city, do it for 10+ years, get sponsored by puma, and race on the velodrome.

How does he run reds like that? Do you guys have any tips for that? I hate waiting at lights downtown.

I ride like this when I have gears and brakes, not so much when I am riding fixed. You just have to pay attention to your surroundings and you are fine (but running reds isn't all it is cracked up to be-----here in Toronto, it is a huge fine, about $200, so it just ain't worth it).

You close your eyes and use zen to go through. You'll know when it doesn't work.

Hey!
You're a moron! |
dude's not a moron, he's just green. listen, you want to ride well in the city, get a helmet and start taking risks. eventually your body will tell you where your limits are and what gaps you can and cannot make.
ride more. |

This thread will be interesting=) |
Experience is where it's at - just spend time on the road, the more time on the road, the more comfort you'll have in the street, and the more comfort/confidence you'll have riding around/close to cars.
I don't usually run reds often, as noted above the fine here in Toronto is pretty hefty, and frankly, I'm just not in that much of a hurry - I like the interval training. That being said, if I'm in an alleycat, I'll take a lot more liberties - that's a confidence that's still growing and I'm still learning - knowing the city helps I would guess, I've never been to NYC, but I know from riding here in Toronto that there are some major intersections I wouldn't think about barrelling across, and some that are pretty tame - knowing when you can/can't take those leaps of faith is important. Ride carefully, build your confidence - in this case it's best to go slow and work up to it rather than go all out and bust... the "bust" might just be your head/spine against that cold cold steel of a motor vehicle, and then you won't think it's so cool to be thrashing about on the roads. oh, yeah - life sucks: get a f*&^ing helmet! |
I got a protec snowboarding helmet, but I don't look as hot wearing it
